Tsavo is a park with a whiff of legend about it, first for its famous man-eating lions in the late 19th century and then for its devastating levels of poaching in the 1980s. Despite the latter, there’s still plenty of wildlife here, although you’ll have to work harder and be much more patient than in Amboseli or the Maasai Mara; the foliage is generally denser and higher here. Put all of these things together, along with its dramatic scenery, fine lodges/camps and sense of space, and this is one of Kenya’s most rewarding parks.

Amboseli belongs in the elite of Kenya’s National parks, and it’s easy to see why. Its signature attraction is the sight of hundreds of big-tusked elephants set against the backdrop of Africa’s best views of Mt Kilimanjaro (5895m) – the World’s highest free standing peak which broods over the southern boundary of the park; and while cloud cover can render the mountain’s massive bulk invisible for much of the day, you’ll be rewarded with stunning vistas when the weather clears, usually at dawn and/or dusk.

Two excavation sites are preserved and the smallish museum has two galleries with a brief overview of the region’s geological and human history. A hearty Dinner awaits on your return to the camp/lodge for overnight.

Day 11:

Activity: Drive to Nairobi. Lunch at the Carnivore. Transfer to Airport for your Departure Flight Home.

Meals : Breakfast, Lunch

A day that seemed a long way off just a few short days ago has come much too soon.  Business, work and home await and it is time to return to that other world and bid your newly made friends in Kenya goodbye.  After you enjoy breakfast at the camp, you will be driven to Nairobi (Approx. 300Km/5.5Hrs). Lunch will be served at the world reknowned Carnivore Restaurant. Carnivore serves up Kenya’s most famous nyama choma (barbecued meat). At the entrance is a huge barbecue pit laden with real swords of beef, lamb, chicken, farmed game meats such as crocodile, rabbit, ostrich etc.  The experience works on a simple all-you-can-eat basis: as long as the paper flag on your table is flying, beautifully attired waiters will keep bringing the meat, which is carved right at the table.

Thereafter, you will be transferred to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where you will connect with your outbound flight, carrying a lifetime of memories from your WildTrek Safaris Kenyan tour back with you.
