This trip is designed specifically for wildlife enthusiasts who want to visit the dry, hot, isolated yet spectacular and virgin Kidepo Valley National Park in North-Western Uganda with relative ease. Instead of driving you straight to the park, which is 575 kilometers from Kampala, this package includes stops at the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary and Gulu town to provide you with comfort and time to recover from the journey fatigue.
Day 1: Arrival in Kampala
Our guide/driver will meet you at the Entebbe International Airport and transport you to the Kampala Acactus Hotel or another location of your choice in Kampala. After a short break, the guide will take you on a city tour of Kampala, stopping at historical and cultural sites along the way. Before returning to the hotel for dinner and overnight, visit the Uganda parliamentary building, Kabaka!s palace, Kabaka man-made lake, Uganda museum, Kasubi tombs, Religious cathedrals, and Bahai Temple, among others.
Day 2: Kampala to Gulu Transfer
After breakfast, you!ll be transferred to Gulu town for the night. During your journey, you will stop to track rhinos at the Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch in Nakasongola district, which is home to Uganda!s only wild rhinos. The sanctuary currently houses twenty-two (22) southern white rhinos.
Day 3: Transfer Gulu to Kidepo Valley National Park
Transfer in the morning to Kidepo Valley National Park, where you will go on a short game drive in the evening to see animals such as zebras, giraffes, caracals, lesser kudu, and mountain reedbuck, among others. Dinner and a night!s stay at Apoka Rest Camp (budget).
Day 4: Game drive in the park Kidepo Valley National Park
Kidepo Valley National Park is known for its unique composition of wild game coexisting with dry mountain forests, open savannah, and over 77 mammal species and nearly 500 birds. It is traversed by large sand rivers. As a result, the park is home to a diverse range of animal species, including many that are unique to Uganda, such as the cheetah. As a result, on day four, you will go on a game drive around the park for the entire day in order to see as many animal and bird species as possible, including rare/endemic species found nowhere else in Uganda, such as the cheetah. Dinner and a night!s stay at one of the Apoka Safari Lodges.
Day 5: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
You will leave early in the morning for a journey to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s most visited park, where you will go on a game drive in the evening. Both the game drives and the launch trips in the Murchison provide opportunities to see a variety of animals and birds. A game drive with our trained guide around the Buligi game tracks on the northern bank is a fantastic way to see and photograph the wide range of animals in the Nile Valley, including lions, hyenas, elephants, giraffes, and possibly leopards.
Day 6: Hike to the Top of the Falls/Game Drive & Transfer to Kampala
After breakfast, you!ll go on a hike to the top of the Murchison Falls to feel and see the world!s most powerful waterfall. Alternatively, you can go on a morning game drive to see more of the animals you may have missed on the previous day!s evening game drive. Your guide will then drive you back to Kampala after lunch.
